Decorating My Family Room with Ocean Styles

I have all the basic components of my family room: two leather couches, coffee and end tables, artwork, and a pineapple lamp and tropical fan.  What it really needs is an accessory boost.  I would love to add some new throw pillows, curtains over my sliding doors to the pool patio, a stencil to the nook behind my TV, and a new rug.  This rug needs to be near indestructible and being able to hose it off would be a bonus.  I do have a five year old, two dogs, and a cat after all.  So I am turning to Ocean Styles  to help me get this room finished off.  Oh, and tomorrow is the ten year anniversary that we closed on our house!  This will make a great home anniversary gift just in time for summer.

I really like this Cancun area rug:

5 x 7 $319

$54.99

$29.74

I adore these glass floating string lights with the raffia twine.  They would be perfect on the patio and would be seen from our family room, dining nook and kitchen.

$22.95

I originally had an entirely different look planned out for this room that would have had me moving artwork around and then having to purchase all new artwork just to change the color scheme.  I have decided to keep it simple and stick with what we already have and just update it.  I will probably just chose simple, breezy white curtains for the sliders that will pop next to the wall color.

Please check out Ocean Styles for all of your beachy/tropical decor needs.

Mani Monday: Ready For Summer

I'm linking up my latest manicure with Heather Dawn and Heather for their Mani Monday series.  This week, I chose an Essie polish that was one of the more popular colors last summer, Turquoise and Caicos.  I have loved it every time I have seen it featured on blog posts and finally bought my own bottle.  This was my first bottle of Essie polish and I found it to be kind of thin and runny.  I needed three coats of polish to get the coverage I desired.

I love the color and this polish will definitely be a staple of my summer manicures.  Have you ever tried it?  Have you found other Essie polishes to be really thin and watery?

High Five For Friday

Photobucket

These are the top five highlights from the past week:

1.  Getting to see my daughter in her recital costumes on picture day!

2.  Sunday fun day!  A trip to the zoo, lunch with friends, and Chuck E Cheese.

3.  We took a few family bike rides this week.  It feels good to get some exercise in.

4.  After school ice cream with my girl:

5.  Looking forward to this weekend's fun plans:  my husband's company Spring party tonight, a trip to the movies with the girls, Mother's Day, and possibly a trip over to Disney.

Hope you have a great weekend!

High Five For Friday: A Weekend Of Fun

Wow, it is the first Friday in May already!  This year is just flying by.

I'm linking up with Lauren for this week's top five highlights.

This past weekend we enjoyed a visit from our college friends and their two children.  We had an action packed weekend planned.  It really was nonstop.

1)  We tried out a new restaurant for lunch on our way to a local art festival.  I had a turkey bacon avocado melt with chipotle aioli.  The portions were HUGE.  We also ordered Bavarian pretzel sticks for an appetizer.  They were served with lager beer cheese and ground mustard for dipping.  They were soooo delicious we had to order a second.  Too bad I didn't snap a pic.

2)  An impromptu photo shoot among beautiful tropical flowers:

3)  FREE Minor League baseball game!  We enjoyed a beautiful evening at the ball park, watching a beautiful sunset while our children had a blast running crazy on the berm.

4)  Playtime at the park!

5)  Today!  Hubby is taking a day off of work, kid is playing hooky from preschool and we are planning to head over to hang out at one of the Disney parks for a few hours.

Happy weekend!
